Troubleshooting Bilibili video import and playback issues

Welcome to "Anxin Learn". This guide helps you quickly troubleshoot the common issues you might run into when importing or playing Bilibili videos — including short link resolution, Creator space extraction, broken videos, and playback problems.

1. Common symptoms and how to troubleshoot them

Q: Pasting a short link (b23.tv) shows a parsing failure or timeout?

  • What's causing it: The b23.tv link generated by the Bilibili mobile app is a redirect short link. When the network is unstable or the source site temporarily restricts access frequency, the short link redirect may time out;
  • How to troubleshoot and fix it:
    1. Open the short link in a browser: Open the browser on your phone or computer (such as Safari or Chrome), paste the b23.tv short link into the address bar and visit it;
    2. Copy the long link after it redirects: Wait for the page to finish redirecting, then copy the full long link from the address bar — it'll look like https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV...;
    3. Switch back to the app to auto-import: Switch back to "Anxin Learn", and the system will parse and load the video in seconds.

[!TIP] Restore the standard long link No matter what platform short link issues you run into, going through a browser redirect to restore the standard web long URL is a 100% reliable universal fix.

Q: Importing a Creator's personal space shows "0 videos"?

Please check these 4 possible causes in order:

  • Did you accidentally share the Feed page?: A Creator's personal profile includes sections like "Homepage", "Activity Feed", and "Videos". The Activity Feed is a text-and-image social feed and can't be imported as video; you must tap [[···]] in the top-right corner of the Creator's space homepage to share, or share a specific video directly;
  • Did the Creator set privacy permissions on the video?: If the Creator set the video to "visible only to fans" or "private", that content is protected by platform permissions and can't be read by external apps;
  • Is it all exclusive/patron-only content or paid classes?: Exclusive content and Bilibili paid classes are protected by copyright locks and can't be extracted through the login-free interface;
  • Does the Creator actually have video submissions?: Some creators only do live streams or publish articles, with no public video submissions.

[!WARNING] Feed pages can't be parsed as video The Activity Feed is a collection of text-and-image posts similar to a social media timeline. Don't copy and import Activity Feed links. If you want to include the Creator's work, go directly to the "Videos" list and copy the specific video link.

Q: Why do Bilibili public favorites or playlist imports fail?

  • What's causing it: When you tap to share a favorites list in the Bilibili mobile app, it often generates a WeChat mini-program private card or a non-standard format link;
  • How to troubleshoot and fix it:
    1. Open the favorites in a browser: Open the public favorites in the browser that comes with your computer or phone;
    2. Copy the standard URL from the top: Copy the standard web URL from the top address bar (like bilibili.com/list/ml... or a link containing fid);
    3. Confirm it's public: Make sure the favorites list isn't checked as "private" on Bilibili, then switch back to the app to batch-import the entire set.

Q: Why doesn't the favorites list appear or say "No public favorites" when importing a channel/space?

  • Root Cause (Two-Tier Independent Privacy Settings): Even if an individual favorites folder is set to "Public", if the Creator or your account turned off "Show My Favorites" in Bilibili's Space Settings, external visitors cannot see or fetch the favorites list through the profile URL;
  • How to Fix:
    1. If it's your own profile: Open the Bilibili app → [[My]] → [[Settings]] → [[Privacy Settings]] → [[Space Settings]] → toggle on [[Show My Favorites]], then re-import via the profile link;
    2. If it's someone else's profile or you prefer keeping the space private: Open that favorites list directly in a web browser, copy the standard address-bar link starting with bilibili.com/list/ml..., and the app will import it directly via its dedicated link.

2. Handling playback issues and broken videos

Q: The video shows "Unavailable" or won't play? (One-click auto-repair)

Online videos depend on the source site for storage. If the original Creator deletes the video, turns off permissions, or the video is taken down, playback will fail:

  1. Try an auto-repair check first: Go to the video's management detail page and tap [[Check for Updates]] at the bottom. If the source site is fine (it was just a temporary network timeout before), the system re-parses successfully and automatically clears the "Unavailable" red marker — playback is restored;
  2. If the original Creator has fully deleted the video: Online videos depend on the source site for storage. Once the Creator deletes or takes down a video, no third-party player can retrieve that video stream anymore. In this case, search Bilibili for the same or alternative content uploaded by another Creator and re-import it, then delete the broken entry from video management;
  3. Batch detection and cleanup: Go to [[Parent Center]] → [[Video Management]] and tap [[Check Broken Videos]]. The system automatically and simultaneously checks the source status of every video in your library, so you can clean up broken content in one tap.

[!IMPORTANT] Auto-repair mechanism (Auto-heal) Often "Unavailable" is just a temporary detection failure caused by a brief network fluctuation on the source site. When you see a red marker, your first move should be to tap [[Check for Updates]] — most normal videos will heal themselves.

Q: A series collection Creator published new episodes. How do I sync them? (Don't delete and re-import!)

  • Never delete the video and re-import it!
  • Go to that video's detail management page and tap [[Check for Updates]] at the bottom;
  • The system automatically compares the episode list with Bilibili and appends the newly published parts to the end of the list — your child's original check-in days and pacing schedule are fully preserved.

3. Permission boundaries and architecture

Q: Why can't I import commercially copyrighted anime, TV/film, or paid classes?

  • What's causing it: The [Anime / Guochuang / Movie] sections officially run by Bilibili (links contain the bangumi, ep, or ss badge) plus paid classes (including cheese) are subject to official copyright protection and membership permission restrictions;
  • What's supported: This app uses a pure login-free architecture and doesn't support official commercial copyrighted dramas and paid classes. It fully supports regular science, enrichment, picture books, and teaching videos (with standard BV numbers) publicly published by individual Creators;
  • Search tips: When looking for enrichment learning content on Bilibili, add keywords after the title like 讲解 (explanation), 绘本伴读 (picture book companion reading), 启蒙 (enrichment), or 分段精讲 (segmented deep-dive), and prioritize high-definition teaching collections uploaded by personal education creators and science creators.

Q: Why does Anxin Learn firmly not support logging into a Bilibili Premium membership inside the app?

[!NOTE] Holding the line on login-free, ad-free, and child safety Once you connect a commercial platform's login account system to a children's player, it inevitably brings along barrage socializing, uncontrollable comments in the comment area, official algorithm-driven recommendation feeds, and in-app purchase temptations. "Anxin Learn" holds firm to the pure login-free, ad-free sandbox principle, providing your child with a safe, healthy, self-disciplined learning environment curated by you.
